Usually I don't much like books that switch the narrator around, especially if it happens just as I'm getting into the story. Wonder was very different, because the narration goes back to August several times, and the other narrators don't yammer on and on, making me flip ahead to get back to the person I care about. I actually liked reading about Via and Miranda and Jack, how they saw August. I didn't really enjoy reading Justin's part (because the e.e. cummings style bugs the SHIT out of me unless you are actually e.e. cummings), but the end of it at least made me smile.
I think every expectant parent should read this and aim to raise a kid that is less of an asshole than Julian.
Overall, I thought the author did a wonderful job of capturing a fifth-grader's language. A lot of the conversations between the kids reminded me of things my little brother would actually say and how he would say it.
