The Polysyllabic Spree by Nick Hornby
2.0
Grr...I had hoped, from the subtitle to this book, that it might help ME handle the incessant flow of incoming books on my to-read list. Unfortunately, quite the contrary: I ended up adding a good dozen books to my list! Hah. The read was enjoyable, but I'm not very big into reading reviews, so it wasn't really a good book for me, in the long run. I am, however, looking forward to some of the books Hornby recommended. And his style is always light and fun to peruse. He did make one good point that helped me, which was that maybe we just shouldn't try to stem the flow. Why not just enjoy this plethora of books available to us, and read only what we truly want to read? I am going to try to stick by that mantra. Too often, I end up suffering through the agony of a book that just isn't for me, because I feel like I ought to read it. I need to "give up" on books more often, I think. Not more easily, just more often than I normally do. What places like GoodReads, I can keep a book on my to-read list and always go back to it if I, er, ever run out of books....
