Skinwalker by Faith Hunter

4.0

This was a good book, and when I got into reading it, I could read quite a bit at a time, but then I inevitably found myself being drawn towards other books and so I would abandon Skinwalker for several weeks at a time and only occasionally think about what might happen next. The chapters from Beast's POV were interesting and while I liked that it was very clearly a different style of voice, I found the simple sentence structure to be a bit grating. I enjoyed Jane and I felt that the book had a lot of good descriptions in it. I especially liked that Faith Hunter went into great detail about Jane's motorcycle Bitsa. I read another urban fantasy book recently and the author glossed over the motorcycle so quickly that it annoyed me. As a motorcyclist myself, I know a bit about certain details, and as a neophyte writer, I know that it isn't all that difficult to research a topic enough to make it sound as if the character is knowledgeable, so I appreciate Faith's personal knowledge and/or research ability. I know I'll eventually get around to reading the rest of the series, but for now my TBR stack is way too high.
