Legendary by Stephanie Garber

5.0

2nd Read.

“What's so dangerous about my arms?' he murmured.
'For me, everything.”

The Empire is on the line and the fate of her mother... Tella is the only one that can save them all!
In Legendary we are reading through Tella's point of view, which I was so happy about as I felt Scarlett a little too prudent and I can relate to Tella's personality and way of thinking much more. Scarlett is very sensible and straight forward where as Tella is impulsive and passionate but between the two they have the most unbreakable sisterly bond, in Caraval everything Scarlett did was for finding and saving her sister, but in this we see that Scarlett isn't always at the forefront of her sisters thoughts.

Legendary starts straight after where Caraval ended and now the sisters are travelling with Legends performers to Valenda as another Caraval is about to start especially for Empress Elantine's 75th Birthday. We are once again transported to this magical world for another 6 nights where everything isn't quite as it seems. Only this time is it? This game takes a different twist & the prize for Tella is coming face-to-face with the mysterious Master Legend. Tella is tasked by a new character introduced into the book: Jacks, to find out Legends true name and find the Deck of Destiny that holds the Fates and her long lost mother. Tella finds that she is torn between her head and her heart and who she should save or sacrifice for the chance to save her mother or Dante her lover.
We get loads more Dante in this one which is utterly delicious as well as some insight into who he is and his relations. I am in awe of Stephanie Garber for how she creates the most romantic scenarios and seductive characters, she so easily makes you love then hate then love a character over and over until your uncertain of your own emotions, really its like being under a spell!

“He looked like a freshly woken storm, or a beautiful nightmare come to life so he could personally haunt her.”

I'm so glad we get introduced to Jacks in this one, he is so villainously divine! It didn't take long for him to become one of my favorites in this - I love a bad boy ;) He is the Heir to the Elantine Empire but we soon find out his true identity and motives.

“There were many beautiful young men in the world, but Tella believed that none of them could be trusted with something as fragile, or valuable, as a heart.”
Too true Tella my girl, too true.
