The Border

I usually love a fast paced thriller that's heavy on the carnage and light on the exposition, but for some reason I wasn't digging it in this book. Almost all character development seemed to be sacrificed in the service of the next big battle or set piece leading up to the next big battle. I don't necessarily need to like all the characters, but it is nice to know at least a little bit about them and what makes them tick before they are immolated on the alter of propelling the plot forward.
