Two Graves by Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

4.0

This is my very first Preston & Child book that I have ever read. Their book covers are always interesting, and I finally gave in and read one. Apparently I didn't realize that this was the last book in a TRILOGY! Yeah...looks like Miss Meg will be reading the first two, which is (Book One: Fever Dream. Book Two: Cold Vengeance). I don't know what came over me, usually I'm on top of these things, but apparently not this time.

A good thriller will keep you guessing, keep you on your toes, and usually will make you finish the book in one sitting. Two Graves, even though it's the last book in a trilogy, blew my socks off. I have read some great thrillers, but I was happy by how it kept me on my toes and wanting more. I never got bored with this book. The protagonist, FBI Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast, is not your run of the mill hero. He is addicted to drugs, a bit anti-social, and he's not the most attractive guy--he's kinda ghostly. A keeper, huh? But he's like Sherlock Holmes that he is brilliant and he can easily think outside of the box, and predict things that are usually true. He is one of the best, if not the best FBI Special Agents around! So, at least give him some slack. In Two Graves he learns that his dead wife is in fact alive, which starts a grand search for answers on what happened to his wife. He later finds that a number of killings that ultimately prove to be messages from his wife's kidnappers

This gothic, bone chilling novel will make your heart race! The thrilling stories just ooze out of the pages, and making you want more. I would say that this is like a modern-day Sherlock, with an FBI Special Agent that is crazy like Sherlock as well. There are so many quirks, evidence, and mystery to tantalize you. Enjoy!
