Doppelganger: A Trip into the Mirror World by Naomi Klein

Did not finish book. Stopped at 58%.

 ohh my goood i’ve tried reading this book for the last two weeks but it’s such an absolute drag that i can’t anymore... i absolutely love klein and all that she writes, but this book about her obsession with her far-right ‘doppelganger’ naomi wolf just becomes so rambly towards the middle.. the introductory chapters on corporate branding and our commodified identities on the internet were so interesting, then it became chapters upon chapters on her obsession with steve bannon and Wolf..,,,.,., i really wanted to like this book but the focus on covid-19 american far-right conspiracy theories just isn’t interesting to me right now - i feel like i’ve already read a lot about it in the past when y’know, it was a thing :/ every time there’s an insightful section on something new, she brings up Wolf again and it just leaves me exhausted trying to finish it.. some chapters feel like her consolidating her thoughts on certain topics (QAnon, Shock Doctrine stuff continuing til today) yet it’s nothing novel :/
