"Once an assassin, always an assassin"
Review - 3.75 - 4 ⭐️
The story starts with a retired assassin and nanny name Mika. She is then sold to another kingdom to rescue a important missing person. She gets on this journey with a crew of 4 people who will change how she view herself.
I loved the world building. It was a enjoyable journey to follow the crew get to new places and discover different kingdoms. The magic system is very well explained and described as well as the settings. It was easy to imagine where they were even thought it is a complexe world.
The plot did keep me engage throughtout the story. I thought the pace was a bit slow at times but it did get better.
Concerning the characters, they were well constructed and I understood each personnalities. I didn't connected with everyone of them, but they were all necessary to the story. I also loved the LGBTQ+ rep and cast!
The FMC Mika as an assassin I thought she was a little childish, however she had moments where her strenght shine throught, especially at 50% of the book and forward.
The last 10 chapters tho! I was not expecting that twist I really loved that it was action packed. I'm very curious for the second book. I hope we get to see more of that assassin qualities and emotional growth she has to go throught.
Thank you to the author for the oportunity to read this ARC.
