One of my favourite books ever. Timeless. It took me two years to read - two years to complete the first 50 pages, and a mere 2 days to finish the rest. I knew nothing of the book before reading it, and the ending was so intense and unexpected I sat down and stared at the ceiling for a bit.
An unlikely couple tries to defy the authoritarian regime. The author gives us hope, only to destroy it by the end. The tools of propaganda the regime used and its absolute control over all people - very scary, and a true warning for present times.
