The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth
5.0

LOVED THIS BOOK. No spoilers.

Published in 1971, this a great assassin for hire (before the internet) story. Very well researched, and excellently presented by the author. Each chapter gives you a perspective of the would-be assassin, as well as the people who hired him and those trying to hunt him down. 406 pages keeps you reading without knowing which way it is going to go. Loved it. This is my first book by this author and I will read more soon.

If you have seen the Peacock show by the same name, the show does take the main idea, but runs with it in modern times. So it is the same, but different. I watched the show first, and after reading the book, the show does gives hints, winks and nods back to the book if you know where to look and listen. Both are good in their own respective ways. Back to the library for another book by this author.
