I did not love this book. I read it because I really loved [b:The Girl With All the Gifts|17235026|The Girl With All the Gifts (The Girl With All the Gifts #1)|M.R. Carey|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1403033579s/17235026.jpg|23753235] by M.R. Carey and was hoping that it would be similar. The storytelling of [b:Fellside|26030697|Fellside|M.R. Carey|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1447360065s/26030697.jpg|45956874] was of the same nature, in what I would expect is M.R. Carey's typical style, but the story just wasn't there for me. The characters were flat and somewhat typical. The premise and twist of the story were somewhat compelling, but not enough to overcome the rest.
