I enjoyed the trope of exes getting back together in the book, especially with the added pressure of the entire village being at risk if they didn't work together. However, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't have the "enemies to lovers" type of romance. Personally, I wouldn't consider getting back with an ex, even if the whole world was at risk, but in this novel, the main characters were in love from the beginning. The constant mention of "sexual tension" in non-sexual situations was a bit too much for me. For instance, one of the characters getting aroused just by looking at his ex-girlfriend's purse was a bit unrealistic. Although the book had a charming small-town feel and a sweet romance, it wasn't the best romance novel I've ever read. But I did appreciate the excellent communication between all the characters, and I enjoyed the narrator's choice for this book, which provided us with details for both main characters.
