Gwendy's Final Task by Stephen King
3.0

I'll admit to being a bit of a Stephen King fan. I appreciate his suspenseful and probing perspective. Having read the first two books of this trilogy that were coauthored by Richard Chizmar and having practically grown up with the main character, Gwendy, along the way- I optimistically looked forward to King's voice to end the story. Perhaps I set my expectations too high.
There was some oddly supernatural aspects, some psychological terror, some familiar elements..... and a plot that held firm in spite of numerous subplots. ... But the stereotypical good guy / bad guy and predictable melodrama had me shaking my head at the final chapters.
This may be my first review of a book that I don't recommend.... i usually just stop reading. I kept hoping King would pull it out of the hole it slipped into. My most complimentary comment would be "it was mildly entertaining". However, if you, like me, read the first two Gwendy stories.... you may also find the promise of closure as irresistible as the button box itself.
