Such nostalgia!

Most people who pick up this book would probably be a fan reliving their childhood. Welp, me too! I remember being so excited to watch the Sailor Moon episodes when they aired and chattered about it with my friends the next day. Sailor Moon holds such a special place in my heart and I just loved being able to revisit it again. I didn't finish the show, unfortunately, as a young kid. But half a dozen years later, being stuck in quarantine, I decided to search up and binge watch the show. I had nothing else to do of course and I got hooked! I started searching around and realized that the show came from a book (of course it did!). The bookworm in me couldn't help getting it!

Because it was a manga/graphic novel, I had no trouble reading it in one day. Even though I already knew what was going to happen, it didn't stop me from loving every moment of the read.

Like most superheroes books/shows, the main super-heroin was just a normal girl. 14-year-old Usagi Tsukino only had to worry about not being late school and getting low test scores. But when a mysterious black cat showed up, her whole life changed. Presented with a beautiful brooch, Usagi transformed into the famous Sailor Moon. Except instead of being a bad*** superhero, Usagi was a crybaby; a big one at that. But with the help of a mysterious but superrrrrrr cute gentleman who went by the name of Tuxedo Mask, Usagi managed to defeat the villain. But she found out that there were more at stake. Dark forces were coming and she must awaken the other Guardians and find the Moon princess...or Earth will be doomed.

Dramatic? Just a tad bit.

Normally, a character being such a crybaby would get on my nerves, but not Usagi. Heck, the girl even admitted from the very first page! But her being a crybaby would later on really show how far Usagi develop as a character. So in this circumstance, I didn't mind. The pacing of the plot in the book is definitely a lot faster than in the original show. There were a lot of filler episodes where you got to know the character more. Which is one of the reasons I'm so glad I watched the show first (shocking, I know!)...and I would recommend it too!

I might have a new book boyfriend now...Tuxedo Mask!!! WOW. WOW. WOW...is he hot. That's all I have to say. The reveal between Usagi and Tuxedo Mask was a little bit different in the manga than it was in the show. And honestly, I prefer it a lot more in the show. There was a bit more buildup and angst...

I loved the art style so much. It's both simple and complicated at the same time. I just loved the book overall! Onto the next one (cause there's a lot more)!
