The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
by Robert Louis Stevenson
I was not expecting to like this text nearly as much as I did. I feel like most contemporary audiences grow up in a culture where this story is known but not read; however, this is a very good Victorian read with very important themes. This story is told as a detective case and it is very easy to read and isn't laborious despite the literary era. There were a few moments that I thought were slightly dull, but I overall thought that the text was very well written and there were several moments where the prose was extremely beautiful. Especially with how much this text has been canonized, this is definitely a text that should be read.
