Vicious Fae by Caroline Peckham, Susanne Valenti

What the fuck did I just read? I was so confused because of all the reviews talking about that "crazy ending" and I saw someone saying "oh no my poor Gabriel" but I most certainly wasn't expecting this lol. Can't say I'm too excited about that ending bruh.
Sadly I do have some complaints about this book:
↪ Where was the plot? Like the last 60 pages were on fire and I couldn't stop reading but what about the other 570 pages? I feel like this series is getting pretty repetitive and I've read that many people are agreeing. I think this series could've been cut way down in terms of number of books and page count. I do love spending time with the characters but I really can't stand when you'd be so interested in the plot but they just don't give it to you.
↪ I would've never thought that I'd say this but can we just chill with the amount of spice for a little bit? I feel like half of this book was them smashing and it's just getting so repetetive and I'd appreciate deeper connections way more.
↪ I know this is a reverse harem and I love reading about it BUT can the kings just stand up for themselves a liiiittle bit more? I mean just because multiple men want one women doesn't have to mean that they have to endure everything she puts them through. When Elise says "jump" they ask "how high?".
↪ A lot of people hate ZA and/or this series because of the "cringey and instalovey" writing and I truly didn't feel like that at all before but with this book, and I don't know why, it just felt so much more cringe. The characters felt way more immature than before. For the love of god I got so annoyed with Leon especially because he behaved like a literal CHILD. Please, grow up just a little bit.
↪ For me personally Elise just doesn't match with most of the kings. Leon and her just give siblings or best friend vibes to me. Gabriel just deserves waaay better and someone, that wants ONLY him as well. Ryder I just love with my whole heart but still I think that Elise isn't his perfect match. Dante and Elise I do see having a future together and matching pretty well actually.
Okay now to the things that I liked about this book:
⤖ Like I already said I love Ryder so so so much. I think it's the darkness, the trauma and the intense feeling of brokeness that makes him so special to me. I wish only the best for him and I want him to be able to fully heal, feel loved and most importantly feel self love. I'm really excited to see where his story is going to go.
⤖ The whole Solaria world is just once again so addicting. Even though I criticised that there wasn't much plot I still flew through this book.
⤖ I'm 50/50 on Elise. I do love that she's not depicted as small, weak, fragile and dependent but independent, brave, self confident and knows what she wants. But sometimes I also find her pretty insufferable. Like be a little more human and show your weaknesses as well.
⤖ I know that I said that the amount of spice was unnecessary and annoying at times. But there were some *chef's kiss* scenes oh my lord. Ryder, Dante and Elise finally together? Say less.
⤖ I was so excited for them to go to ZA and seeing Orion again? Yup, I missed that man. And I loved seeing some backstory to him as well.
Overall thoughts:
I'm kinda scared since I've heard that the next book is just as repetetive but I'm still excited for it since I love spending time with the characters and I've grown fond of them. And I really can't wait to see what truly happened to Gareth. Once I'm done with this series I can't wait to get back to ZA, I MISS THEM. :((((
