Still full of awesome after all these years. I did not fully appreciate the interplay between this and Doctor Who in my callow youth. Dirk Gently is almost entirely not like the Doctor. Almost. And the immortal professor with a time machine and a horse in the bathroom? Also almost entirely not like The Doctor. And the bad guys? Oh boy. Just about exactly the sort of menaces The Doctor and Sarah Jane protect us from, again and again.

Well worth the reread. Delighted to hear the BBC is turning it into miniseries.
