Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
4.0
Brilliant Fantasy Adventure !
My first Leigh Bardugo book and it was pretty good ! I loved the Grishaverse, the maps, the places and the magic ! Grisha's are simply great. I liked how the rivalry is set between Grisha and Humans for good reasons. The motive of the villain seemed sensible too, in his own way of course. That makes up a story good base !
The Heist was great, I recall Leigh Bardugo calling it " Ocean's 11 in Fantasy World" . It was indeed a good plot ! The Heist was way from perfect though. Nothing went as planned and that kind of turned out good. All the unexpected things that happened made it a lot more better>
Character Talk >
Kaz - Clearly, mine and I am sure, favorite of lot of readers ! His sheer coldness and intricate planning made his parts in the book so satisfactory to read. I liked his entire personality. In the end he did fall a little bit, he away little of himself away. That doesn't change anything though.
Inej - I have always loved a fighting girl in fantasy worlds and she is no different. I instantly loved her. Her backstory is good too. Cliched but good.
Mathias and Nina - I loved these character individually but no together :S . I didn't enjoy their romance at all. Escalated way too quickly for me. Meh.
Jesper - He was a cool guy from the beginning and that's what he remained.
Wylan- Too little of him tbh. I hope there is a lot more of him in the next one.
Writing - I did have problems with the writing bit. The chapater names were that of the characters. So, that in my opinion should shift to first person perspective. But, it remained in third person perspective and it never mattered whose chapter it was. She could have easily named the chapters in numbers. However, providing timing on the chapter titles WAS a clever bit !
All that said, good fantasy adventure but I wouldn't call it a must read : )
