A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair

2.0

This retelling fell short of expectations. It merely recycled familiar names. Persephone, portrayed as the Goddess of Spring and the central character, failed to resonate. Her portrayal felt disjointed, and her actions often left me frustrated. Despite Hades' allure, his depiction as the God of the Dead lacked the depth I anticipated. He exuded more of a charming rebel persona rather than the formidable deity he should be.

The narrative lacked the necessary buildup and tension to sustain engagement, opting instead for a rushed union between the main characters. Persephone's internal conflict regarding her feelings for Hades felt repetitive and tiresome.
