lauren_mcl 's review for:
A Lady for a Duke
by Alexis Hall
I'm gonna have to think about a rating, because there was a lot to like. But the pacing was godawful, there were like 3 chapters of Viola's POV for every 1 of Gracewood's, and there was entirely too much introspection. Things that needed expanded were glossed over and uninteresting details were harped on.
Half the plot was them standing around arguing that no even tho Gracewood was a rich, powerful duke who was in love with her and could do whatever he wanted without repercussion, somehow they couldn't be together, until at the end when Viola was like oh ok I guess that's true.
On the bright side, this does prove Alexis Hall can write a decent woman, which is something I really doubted after the horrible Rosaline Palmer, the self-absorbed Liza from Murder Most Actual, and the absolutely awful sister in Something Fabulous.
