I've loved every Stephenson book I've read, but this is by far the most accessible and instantly compelling. As addictive and nearly impossible to walk away from as T'Rain, the WOW-ish MMORPG game that functions as an important plot element, it's just a fun, nonstop, totally immersive adventure/intrigue story. Just read it, even if you think you don't like Neal Stephenson.
