This book was, for me, unfortunately a big step down from the first. It was just missing a lot of what made What Moves the Dead work so well for me. The atmosphere isn't as creepy, the tension isn't as high, and it's all just a little more boring. It's still good, mind you! I really liked the exploration of PTSD, and there was still the impeccable dynamic between Easton and Angus continues to be impeccable. But I just wasn't compelled by the horror here. In the end, I was left feeling the same was I was when this book was initially announced: "wait, why is there a sequel?"
