You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson

C/W: racism, micro-aggressions, outing, homophobia
I don't know why I waited so long to read "You Should See Me in a Crown". I loved the experience with every fibre of my being. I wish that it had been around when I was in high school and preparing for my own school dance. This book is happiness in a very imperfect world and it reminds me that beneath all the trauma-filled narratives queer people are praised for telling, stories like this one matter just as much.
I can't wait to read more of Leah Johnson's work. Alaska Johnson, the audiobook narrator, was incredible if you are planning to pick this book up on audio.
