Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery

"I don't want sunbursts or marble halls, I just want you."

This book isn't my favorite in the [b:Anne of Green Gables|8127|Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)|L.M. I had no memory of the events and storyline in this book prior to my reread but I'm glad to have reread it. Not a whole lot is happening plot-wise, thus, my rating.

However, Anne does a lot of soul searching and growing up in this book and I can definitely relate to her feelings watching all of her friends go off, get married, and have kids while she watched from the sidelines.

The only part I really didn't like was the early 20th century attitudes toward getting rid of unwanted animals and what a few characters either did to their animals or attempted to do. This was a real disappointment. However, I understand that viewpoints towards what is acceptable and unacceptable change throughout history.
