To everyone that told me to read Daisy Jones…THANK YOU. This book was so so good and I was pleasantly surprised!

I listened to the audiobook which is, hands down, the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to. The cast was amazing (looking at you, Judy Greer) and the set up translates so well into audiobook. I did go back and forth about whether or not I thought an audiobook with 6+ narrators/voice actors would be good…spoiler alert- it’s incredible.

However, I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed it as much if I had read a physical book, but that seems to be a pattern with me and TJR books. Her writing just translates better into audio than on paper to me (but I still need a physical copy of this one).

This reads like a documentary. I felt like I had a cool music documentary in the background and I was just listening to it instead of watching. The narration was incredible and I felt that the actors really captured the emotions of these characters so well.

This story is fun and wild and sad. You follow these band members through the rise and fall of Daisy Jones and the Six and it was great to hear how different characters viewed certain events. If you have one event that happens to 5 people and you ask each one about the event, you’re going to get 5 different stories. I love how this book showcases that.

This book is HEAVY on drug content. And because of that, it’s hard for me to have an opinion about a type of character that I can’t relate to. I felt bad for Daisy. She was so caught up in these drugs and honestly I don’t know if I ever got to see HER because she’s just always in a drugged out stupor. Who is Daisy Jones? It’s a question that she can’t even answer herself. I don’t think she was ever happy. Honestly, I’m relieved that it ended how it did. I’m glad that Billy chose Camila- that quote about fire and water? RIPPED ME WIDE OPEN. And the letter at the end? I hope billy called Daisy.

Overall, 10/10 would recommend this book-especially the audio. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while.
