To be honest, I found this pretty disappointing. 

I'm a fan of Alderman and the premise is epic, but the no el itself is like being bludgeoned repeatedly by a very large, very crude rock. 

The characters don't actually progress in anyway. You can see the trajectory of their path from oge one so very little comes as a surprise.

In addition, while the chapters are divided up by character focus, towards the end Alderman starts bouncing around perspectives without warning or reason.

It could've been an amazing novel if done properly, but it wasn't.
