My rating is more like a 3.5.

I marked this as spoilers because I can't help but complain... Ellelin had the EXACT same last name as the king and queen of the Spirit Court, and no one bothered to connect the dots except for Arty?? I initially thought that Ellelin was using her mother's maiden name or something because her maternal grandmother was raising her, but seriously?! It's not like Ilroth is a common surname smh.

Anyways... I enjoyed this third book better than I did the second book. We are kind of back to the same pattern as the first book, which draws some nice parallels. I wish we got some more backstory and character development for Arty. It would have been nice to see a redemption arc for her instead of just *poof* she is redeemed and in love. It also feels like we dropped the book two arc too easily. It just appears to be a means to an end (getting her shadow mate, giving the future ruler of the Spirit Court people to rule over, introduce messed up trauma...).

I am very glad to see Grayson's backstory and the Arden/Lysander tension develop though. Grayson's sister is awesome, too. Book three ends on a nice cliffhanger; I can't wait to see what happens between Elle-elle-elle-lin and Emrys (dun dun dun). I'm heading straight to book four now.
