Celebrity in Death
by J.D. Robb
Another good book in the "In Death" series. This is one of my favorites series and full of some of my favorite characters. Lighter than the last book, more humor. But it was missing some of my favorite elements. Eve didn't beat anybody up, not so much as a scuffle. She doesn't even "happen" to stop an actual petty crime, where she usually kicks butt, but stops a potential petty crime. And Commander Whitney doesn't dress anyone down. I did miss those elements. But J.D. Robb did mention the Candy Thief! And this book was packed full of humor. I do like these characters, seeing them develop especially Eve. I love her social awkwardness, for lack of a better word, and her bewilderment at why people insist on making private things public. The banter in wit in the "In Death" series is so much better than in any of Roberts other books. I give this book 3.5 stars only because there wasn't any Dallas ass kicking or Whitney dressing down. Even the Candy Thief striking again would have raised it to 4 stars.
