The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi

4.0

Wow, good twist in the end! I'm excited to continue the trilogy - it's an interesting world and an interesting story, though I found the characters a bit flat. I also hope sentences like these improve in the next two books:

"She ran as fast as her legs could carry her."

"She dug her nails into the wood, clinging on for dear life."

"She wanted to explore every nook and cranny of the city."

Those weren't the only cliches in the book. Eva was an overall cliche, always "wiping away tears" or sobbing when things got tough, and the constant eye-rolling at Muthr had me rolling my eyes at her. I would have liked to see her show some believable passion to excuse her for the persnickety attitude.

It seems like a lot of complaints for my 4-star rating, but I would have giving it 5!
