Fassbinder Thousands of Mirrors by Ian Penman

4.0

obviously and intentionally fractured, fragmented, and personal. so this is not the book to read if you want a detailed account of Fassbinder's life and work, rather, inpresssions of it; anecdotes, quotations, theories, and thoughts. So i could definitely see why someone already well-versed in Fassbinder lore and well-immersed in his films might not like this, although I'm pretty sure they'd still learn something new or at least gain some different perspective from it. It's fun! Me personally, even having only seen one Fassbinder film before reading this, I was immediately hooked and finished it in a week. This also got me excited about and interested in watching more Fassbinder in a way that I wasn't before reading it so if nothing else, 5 stars for that
