i started this literally years ago and finally read the second half and i’m so glad i picked it back up. i didn’t stop because i didn’t like it but the second half of the book just really captured me. there’s a few questionable things in this book that i think are supposed to highlight that it was a different time but really they were just unnecessary. but the horror elements were great and the relationship between the two main characters was real and beautiful, the last few chapters had me sobbing for some reason
