Battle Ground by Jim Butcher
5.0
I'M FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH THE DRESDEN FILES!
This was... excellent. All this build-up for an epic battle, and that's exactly what we got. There were some absolutely devastating moments and enough action to pack all 400 pages. I started this and stayed up way too long reading it, and thought of not much else at work the next day.
I think the story is all the more impressive when considering how horrifically disappointed I was by the final battle in [b:Scourged|16280691|Scourged (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #9)|Kevin Hearne|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1499962238l/16280691._SX50_.jpg|22382336]. Reading this directly after put the highlights into full focus.
Apparently I now join the congregation of those who wait for Butcher to spit out his next few books, but I don't believe we were left on a frustrating cliffhanger. There were many loose ends tied up, with promise for a few good storylines yet to come.
