Really funny premise: two people meet over a ridiculous Reddit thread.
Both Emma and Justin are always one person away from being the right person for someone else. Anytime they date someone and break up, that person finds their forever love right after.
So why not try it for each other? And of course, Justin is wonderful and charming and Emma is caring and smart and loving. And of course, they fall in love with each other. But she’s a little damaged and his life is far from perfect or ideal to explore something serious with a new partner.
Listen, this book had me kicking my feet, and clutching my chest. What I’ve come to notice about Abby Jimenez – – and this is only my second read but still – – is that her prose is so beautiful and moving and the characters have such emotional depth. She’s writing about real life in a way that still feels entertaining and escapist, but also with robust characters that experience this vast range of emotion, while doing it all about 400 pages.
The woman is good and I’m hooked.
This book is also in the same universe as Yours Truly, so we get a cute little interconnected cameo from the last set of characters that I also loved.
I’m taking notes Abby, I’m studying up.
