⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 for this novel in verse. Just wanting a night away from her family, Maddie and her friends plan a sleepover at her grandparents’ empty apartment. When her friends cancel, Maddie decides to stay alone. She wakes up to a slew of messages from her parents and friends - while she slept, the government declared “imminent danger” and evacuated everyone. Now alone with an aging dog as her companion, she must survive without power or a way to communicate with the rest of the world. How long will she be alone? Will her family ever come back? Highly recommend for grades 6+
