It's been a few years since I've read the preceding Psy-Changeling novels and I was delighted to revisit them where I left off. While this novel retains Nalini Singh's excellent world-building, there are many repetitive elements along with minimal spice. The repetitive elements stem from numerous descriptions of couples with their children (I get it, it's hot in heterosexual couples when men hold/take care of small children). Similarly, I understand that this novel is more panoramic in nature and does not focus on a single couple but there are virtually no substantive spicy scenes, which is disappointing.
In spite of these short-comings, the novel is well-written and its pacing has enough high stakes situations sustain interest and build up tension. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
