Front Desk by Kelly Yang
5.0
2021 seems to be the year to ban BIPOC stories. After reading Kelly Yang's tweet that Front Desk was banned at a school, I immediately became curious as to why?
This book is OUTSTANDING! Yang paints the immigrant experience so vividly because she lived it! She addresses discrimination, racism, struggles, fear, poverty, friendship, desires, family, communities, resilience and hope in her middle grade novel. There is nothing offensive within its pages. I found it a beautiful story that depicts a hopeful immigrant experience.
