Alpha Barman

Enjoy with some misgivings
I like Jake and I like Mitch. The romance that never fully blossomed due to fear and a bad ending a result of sorrow. Can they make it work again? I'll let you figure that one out.
At a certain point I began to think that there were way too many gay/bi characters. I'm certainly not opposed to gay guys being around one another but the fact that they all just happened to have been put together based on unrelated factors made it seem weird.
The storyline was a little too pat. Everything lined up too perfectly. The mission that brought the team back together, after a fashion, amounted to nothing. The villain eventually shows up, reveals his horrible deeds and then exits. Like I said, it amounted to nothing. Sure, we got a major revelation but we'd already been set up for it. Then, essentially, we get a happily ever after.
Finally, it ends on a straight up cliffhanger. It's one thing to have some unresolved plot threads but this wasn't the case. I new element was introduced on the very last page and the presumption is that you have to tune in next book to find out what it's all about.
The storyline was enjoyable but I'd rather things not be tied up in a neat bow at the end. I would have liked more legitimate conflict and really would have not had the villain reveal his master plan so easily.
