I was ecstatic when Emma Watson announced she'd created a book club #OurSharedShelf. January's book choice was Gloria Steinem's autobiography, MY LIFE ON THE ROAD.
I've admired Emma using her voice to better the world, and promote awareness. This year, I made a goal to read literature that would push my typical reading boundaries, and better me as a person. The books chosen in this group seem to be the perfect choices to fulfill this resolution.
MY LIFE ON THE ROAD, has been an absolute delight to read, and such an inspiration. I love when woman empower other woman to be the best they can be. And Steinem has this down to an art.
A fun little fact: Emma stated in a message that she put her name, where she bought the book and the date at the front of her copy. She also commented that she would be reading "pen in hand so I can do some underlining and margin writing". I think I'll be documenting the same information at the front of my books here on out. I love the idea of journaling these details, and leaving a little bit of my history in the books that I read and love. And I definitely have found myself underlining and writing in the margins myself!
