Firestorm by Nevada Barr

4.0

In this next installment of the National Park/Anna Pigeon series, Anna is security ranger/medic tent worker at a spike camp for a squad of firefighters in Lassen Volcano National Park. (If you have no idea what a spike camp is, I didn’t either…this book actually explains some of the National Park service jargon a little better than previous books). The weather is turning and they are about to be pulled out when they get a call that a worker is down with a broken leg on the line. Her and a few others go to carry him out when a gust of wind creates a deadly firestorm.

8.5 of 10 for enjoyment, 4 of 5 for readability. I’m happy to see four books into this series that these books are all very different. Some have complicated plots, some are more straightforward, some are more about the park, and some are more about the mystery. This one was more straightforward than the twisting and turning plots of previous books which led to it being a more simple read than others from this series.
