Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
5.0
For a book in this genre, Half-Blood has really stood the test of time. I loved this book! The main character is consistent and very emotionally complex, the plot is fast paced and exciting and the relationships that form throughout the book are really well thought out. I came across this book by accident by I think it should be regarded as up there with books like the Percy Jackson series. (I adore greek mythology which is used as the explanation for the plot of the book.) I feel like the summary I read for this book really didn't do justice to how good this book actually is.
There is always something happening, no long drawn out scenes that bored me half to death, which I always appreciate. The characters were all very unique and consistent. I loved that while romance was a large factor of this series, so was friendship and parental/family relationships. I found that the book feels like it is told from a realistic teenage perspective based on the priorities of Alex and her friends at the covenant. Things like parties, drinking, social interactions etc. were all really fun scenes to read and I thoroughly enjoyed this book, so much so that I couldn't put it down.
While I may have very minor problems with the book (like the overkill use of the word 'freaking') all the important parts of the book, I loved. I am so keen to start reading book two!
This book left off in a really good place to start book two and I seriously pray that the rest of the series will be as good as the first book. I can't wait to see how things will develop between characters... especially Seth. (I'm also praying for a pinch more smut...) I think I may have found one of my new favorite books.
