I read this book because I absolutely love young royals on Netflix. It did not disappoint! The characters were written in a wonderful way; the intimate scenes were so lovely and tasteful. You could feel the love through the book.
The stress this book gave me! It is so tense at times and I just didn't know what to do with myself.
Brilliantly written, can't say it enough.
The lgbtqai+ subjects in this book are done in a lovely way that isn't so 'ooo look at me I'm gay'. I know that is what the book is about but some books are truly showing what being in a relationship like that is like. Especially coming out and discovering yourself. It was done very quickly in this book but you can't expect another 10000 pages to be added. As someone part of the community, I feel like it represented us in a way that didn't leave me feeling like I now had to tell everyone I had met I was a raging lesbian. As I have said some books make it the main focus to drill it into you that they are part of the community and forget all about the fact that being part of the LGBTQAI+ community doesn't take away from the fact that a relationship is still two consenting adults who love and respect each other!
Cons-
I have a few, but most books do. However, this book didn't have too many.
I did find a few of the ways that the royal family is betrayed, as an English person, sometimes could come off as disrespectful. The name of the prince, Henry, is way too close to Harry's name and I just think this would be one of my criticisms. Saying this, I don't really agree with the royal family (getting political) so it didn't bother me and definitely didn't stop me from reading.
I also think closer to the end you really do have to be an American or follow American politics (neither I am nor do) to understand what was being written, I had to re-read a couple of things because I truly did not understand what was being written.
I am also so confused as to who the character Leo is... I think it is Alex's stepdad but to be honest I couldn't be sure.
