Esrahaddon by Michael J. Sullivan
3.0
I’m sad as I had really wanted to enjoy this book as much as Farilane. About halfway through I struggled to finish and though it ended with a bang it all felt a bit flat in comparison. I noticed, perhaps for this first time, that in this book especially Sullivan used a LOT of exposition to fill in the story gaps as simple dialogue between characters.
While I find this feat of bridging his two series quite commendable this book really did feel like an intermediary between the legends series and the Royce and Hadrian parts. Honestly the most engaging portion of the story was the backstory of Turin and Trilos and their feud. But the entire excursions and wandering a of our key character felt almost like filler in his own tale.
