The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
5.0
This is my ultimate comfort book. It’s simply written, but there is so much beauty in the plainness. I love the way that this book celebrates female friendship first and foremost. I love the way the characters feel so human, and the way they mess up in real ways. Books don’t usually make me cry these days but this one did. Really really did. Because of the honesty of the characters I really related to each of them in little ways. It’s a beautiful look into young teenage friendship, the pure ness and delight of that time when life is a little simpler and this book goes through the beginning of the loss of the simplicity and also how much better life is when you have real true friends. This book is such an emotional roller coaster. Maybe it hit me extra hard because of the nostalgia (I read it when I was the characters age) or maybe just because it’s a lovely slice of life book that honors friendship in such a true way.
