I enjoyed this book a great deal as I found the world and concepts introduced by Mr. Goodkind to be quite enrapturing. The only thing that really holds this book back is the dialogue that passes between Richard and Kahlan is at best passable and at worst incredibly awkward. I find this strange as I didn't feel any of the other characters suffered from this issue, but the fact that the two main characters dialogue is this bad can occasionally bring the story to a grinding halt. I still enjoyed the book but I did occasionally have to wince through a few pages to get the story back going again.
