Absolution
by Jeff VanderMeer
The fever dream of fever dreams. The brain melting of melting brains. This is the strangest book I have ever read.
Absolution instilled a horror and paranoia I have never felt reading a book. Each of the three stories unfolds its narrative in its own way, only for those narratives to be revealed as surface level masks by the others. The truth is never quite revealed but remains something in the corner of one’s eye. This is a beautiful and terrifying work of art that belongs right alongside the other three novels in one of the greatest series of all time.
