The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin

inspiring reflective slow-paced

3.5

If you're an artist looking for additional inspiration or perspective on how to live a creative life and enjoy your work, this is definitely a great read. I struggled immensely to connect with the voice, but I really resonated with the sections about ignorance fueling innovation and working with the limitations of the universe/expected structure for art and life. I also enjoyed the sections about dealing with failure and rejection and wish there was further expansion on leading a creative life when you are required to work in another field or career in order to sustain your life or the balance between business and art.
