Single by K.L. Slater
4.0
This was my first K. L. Slater thriller and I look forward to seeing the other twisty tales this author has on offer. In 'Single', Darcy is mourning the death of her husband Joel, and recovering from a breakdown, when she meets George Mortimer. He is a doctor whose calm use of first aid saved Darcy's son's life. Following this event, Darcy find herself falling heavily for this charming stranger as their lives become speedily entangled.. but, as expected in a psychological thriller, everyone is keeping secrets!
I found this book gripping and enjoyed unpicking the different layers within it to search for the truth. Some of the twists I saw coming but this didn't diminish the enjoyment of how Slater sets up the reveals. Other twists I didn't see coming but this was mainly because the ending got a little bit absurd... By losing the realism, it lost me a little (and one star from my rating).
I look forward to reading more of Slater's thrillers in future.
