Devilish by Maureen Johnson

4.0

3.5/5

This was an enjoyable piece of brain fluff. It wasn’t at all realistic - but it was the second book that helped yank me out of my reading slump. It was also the first book written solely by Maureen Johnson that I’ve read, and despite being literally unbelievable, it was definitely worth the read.

However, when I say it was unbelievable, I was still able to be sucked into the story. I was just aware that it was more brain candy than it was a serious fantasy epic. Not sure if that clarifies anything, but hey, I tried.

Would recommend but probably not if you haven’t read anything else by Johnson or gotten a taste of her writing elsewhere. Or maybe this would be a good first taste, to see how thoroughly she may be able to win you over in a fun, devilish ride.
