I don't mind a twist when it's done well. This book feels like it was written around the twist with no real character development overall. During segments of Jeremy's perspective, it was very awkward to listen to a serial killer psychoanalyze himself and explain his love of control and power. Wren needed a lot more time being fleshed out as a medical examiner, wife, partner and victim. The twist was just an uninspired connection that didn't need to be made to progress the plot in a more intriguing way.
