A young maid has a new assignment: an old mathematics professor with a unique disability. He can only remember the last 80 minutes of his life. A terrible accident at 47 made his mind like a tape that is erased. While this is a significant plot point, the narrative is kept from getting in the way of the plot.

Most of the plot centers around the maid, the professor, and her son. An obsession with baseball and math drives the narrative. It does make one interested in math, but most of the story ends sentimentally. The need for the mother and son to humor the professor is endearing.
